Plasma nozzle

Function of the PlasmaJets®DC

A PlasmaJet®DC always consists of a high-voltage generator and a plasma nozzle. Inside the plasma nozzle, the plasma is created through a high-voltage discharge between two electrodes. The process gas flows around the electrodes, where it becomes plasma and emerges outwards through a nozzle on account of its flow. Experts refer to a remote plasma here. If the gas jet activated in this way is typically aimed at a plastic surface, the wettability of this surface will increase.

The most cost effective process gas is air. Outstanding treatment results can be achieved in this way.

Choosing a suitable outlet nozzle means that even poorly accessible workpiece geometries can be treated.

The low weight of the plasma nozzle combined with the flexible gas and energy supply allow assembly on a robot arm, e.g. for treating complex contours or three-dimensional bodies.

The process is especially suitable for welding continuous plastic webs, also in contours.
